How much space GTA 6 could take
The estimate comes from PlayStation Game Size, an X account that regularly examines PlayStation Store data. Insider Gaming has also reported a size of around 210 GB. The final file size could change before release, and launch updates could add to the storage requirement.
For context, Push Square cites a minimum requirement of 148.2 GB on GTA 5's PlayStation Store page.
The original PS5 has an 825 GB SSD, with about 667 GB available for games and applications. A 210 GB installation would occupy just under a third of that usable capacity.
Forbes lists about 842 GB of usable storage on the PS5 Slim and about 1.89 TB on the PS5 Pro. Its figures for Xbox are 802 GB on the Series X and about 364 GB on the 512 GB Series S. The size of GTA 6 on either Xbox model remains unknown.
Preloading starts November 12
Rockstar has confirmed that digital buyers can begin downloading GTA 6 on November 12, 2026, one week before its November 19 release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The boxed retail edition includes a download code, not a game disc, so retail buyers must also download the entire game.
Tbreak estimates that a 210 GB download would take roughly 28 minutes over a 1 Gbps connection, 4.7 hours at 100 Mbps or 9.3 hours at 50 Mbps. Those estimates assume full line speed; actual speeds and network congestion would make the wait longer.
To make room, PS5 owners can delete older games or add an M.2 SSD. They can also move installed games to an external USB drive temporarily, but PS5 games cannot run directly from that drive.
Editions, prices and purchase bonuses
Preorders are already open for the game, which returns to Vice City in the state of Leonida and follows Lucia and Jason in an open world.
Forbes reports prices of $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. In the German PlayStation Store, the standard version is listed at €79.99.
Buyers who purchase before November 20 receive the "Vintage Vice City Pack" of digital bonus content. Digital preorders also include one free month of GTA+, but that subscription becomes paid unless canceled in time.
