Who does this policy cover?
Visitors to nachrichtentakt.de, published by Nachrichten Takt Media Deutschland GmbH. It explains what personal data we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
What data do we collect?
What you send us yourself: when you write to [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] or any other site mailbox, we receive your address and the content of your message. Standard server logs: our hosting records technical data such as IP address and request time, solely to keep the site secure and running. That is operations logging, not tracking. We use no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies and build no visitor profiles, which is why you see no cookie banner here; should that ever change, this policy and a banner will be in place before any such cookie is set.
How do we use the data?
To answer your messages, assess tips, process corrections, and operate and secure the site. Nothing else. No advertising use, no profiling, no analytics.
On what legal basis?
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG): legitimate interest in the secure operation of the site, and steps taken at your request when you contact us. We do not rely on consent-based tracking because we deploy no tracking.
Who do we share it with?
No advertisers, no data brokers, and no sale of personal data, ever. Only the service providers who keep the site running (hosting and email), bound by confidentiality, or a disclosure required by law.
How long do we keep it?
Only as long as the purpose requires: typically the time needed to handle and close your request, after which the data is deleted or anonymised.
What are your rights?
You may request access to your personal data, its rectification or erasure, restriction of or objection to its processing, and data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority, for us the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit). For readers in the wider EEA and the UK, the rights granted by the GDPR and the UK GDPR apply in the same way, and you may also approach your own national authority. Write to [email protected] to exercise any of these rights.
What if you are a confidential source?
We take reasonable measures to protect the identity of confidential sources, in line with established journalistic practice. If your information is sensitive, tell us before sending material so we can agree on a secure channel first.
