An evening among the ghosts

Volksstimme describes a nighttime setting of rising fog, rustling leaves and animal calls, with ghost and skeleton decorations suspended in the treetops.

The regional tourism portal harztourist.de lists the festival as a family event held annually on October 31 from 5 p.m., at a cost of EUR 8.00 per person. That event fee is separate from the park's regular admission of EUR 2.00 per person, which is collected through an honesty box.

The park beyond Halloween

Founded in 1974, Wildpark Christianental occupies 8 hectares in Wernigerode's Nöschenrode district. It is open all day, year-round, according to harztourist.de.

Its animals include lynxes, wildcats, raccoons, foxes and silver foxes, along with red deer, fallow deer, mouflon and wild boar. Ravens, finches and pheasants are among the native birds kept there.

Harztourist.de also highlights the park's unusual trees: giant sequoias planted in the 18th century, a dawn redwood and a vine maple.
